The main purpose of this Mini-Symposium  is to bring together, within the  Congress of MASSEE,  people interested in
the indicated areas, including graduate and undergraduate students.
The emphasis will be on the younger generation of scientists. Another important aim of the Workshop will be to organize the interaction between people coming from academia and people coming from industry who are interested in the newest developments in science and their implementation.

The present Workshop is meant to continue the tradition established by the  Workshop on Multiscale Approximations with similar topics and purpose organized within the  Conference on Approximation theory  in June 2002 in Varna, (in case this link is not active please check the local mirror Sendov's Conference on Approximation theory).

    SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMPreliminary version now available.

The program will include invited talks of  40 min. duration, as well as contributed presentations of  20 min. duration. The lectures will be on Friday and on Saturday, 19th and 20th September respectively. Let us remind you that on Thursday the social program (excursions) will take place.

    FINANCIAL SUPPORT:

The organizers  are expecting to get external funds in order to support some of the participants in the Workshop. In due course we will publish on the present page a form for application for support. Eligible for support will be only those making a contribution.
Remark: The chances for getting external financing are diminishing proportionally with the time BUT WE DO NOT LOSE HOPE.

    ACCOMMODATION AND REGISTRATION:

For these see  the general  information of the Congress at Accommodation and registration.

    CURRENCY:

Please note that 1 Euro is changed for about 1.94 Bulgarian leva (BGN) (at the airport the rate is substancially worse), and 1 USD - for about 1.72 Bulgarian leva (BGN) - but first make sure that the exchange office does not take commission - it has to be written "NO COMMISSION" on the exchange rates desk. In case you doubt - ask the amounts to be written down.

    TRANSPORTATION TO BOROVETZ:

For the participants from Germany it may be interesting to see the offer of  BG tours for a one-week stay at hotel Samokov including the flight and all transportations, of approximately Euro 450.

Please check the site of the Congress for transportation information - TRAVEL INFORMATION.

On the other hand you may find also the following useful. For those coming from the Airport of Sofia (which is unique, see  http://www.sofia-airport.bg ) and if you do not have other arrangements for transportation - please notice that in the department where you pick up your luggage you will find an information advertisment how to take a taxi of a reasonable price - the company name is "O'kay supertrans"! There is a reperesentative of this company in the Luggage Department and you have to approach him, and on  this  picture the big black arrow shows approximately where is his office - it is on the right hand side when you get out of the Luggage Department. They take 0.40 leva per kilometer. In case you want to go to Borovets they will charge you also the return way - the price will be thus 180 km times 0.40 leva which is approximately 72 leva.
In case you do not like this company please do not simply jump in a taxi - first ask about the price to your destination and even ask the driver to write it down! It has to be displayed on the outer window of the taxi! If you don't have other arrangement and want to save $35 (=60 leva) - we recommend you to go by taxi (the reasonable price is no more than 5-7, at most 10 leva) to the "Bus terminal South" (called in Bulgarian "avtogara youg", pronounce "you" as in the English  "you") where you can find a transportation (there are minivans and big busses every hour or even half hour at least till 9pm - this changes with the season and we will publish the latest time) to the city of Samokov, the price is 3 leva. This will take you to the bus terminal of Samokov. At this bus terminal you may take a minivan to Borovetz (costs 1 leva) - it stops right at hotel "Samokov" which is the center of the Congress. The taxi from Samokov to Borovetz costs about 10 leva (the distance is about 10 km).
The algorithm is more or less the same if you come from the Main Railway station ( "tsentralna gara" ). Going to "Bus terminal South" is cheaper than from the Airport.
If you want to travel comfortably by taxi to Borovetz (which costs about  $35) you have to tell us and we will make an arrangement for you to be picked up by a taxi from the airport (the taxi driver will come to meet you with a badge having your name at the meeting point in the airport, in the worst case you will meet him at the information desk which is available there). Please make this plan very carefully and inform us about any cancellations since the taxi will come from Samokov specially for you. If we arrange a taxi from Sofia this would cost substancially more.
We will publish more information here during the next 2 weeks!
If you come by bus from abroad then be advised that almost all such busses have their terminal near the Main Railway Station. There are also taxis stopping not far from them.

    OTHER ACCOMODATIONS:

In the city of Samokov you may find a cheap accomodation in private rooms - for about 5-10 leva per day. The transportation to Borovetz is relatively good but depending on the season.
