ELEMENTARY AND BASIC CONSTRUCTIONS IN GEOMETRY

  home    1     2     3     4     5     6

Construction problems have been formulated and solved back in the ancient days. Some of them were related to real problems, like restoration of cultivable plots of land in ancient Egypt after the Nile had wiped out their boundaries. Others were formulated as mathematical problems and the practical need of solving them was seen later on. Three of the impossible constructions (with straightedge and compass), called famous problems - doubling the cube, angle trisection and squaring the cube problems, underlay the creation of special tools allowing to solve those problems.

You have the chance to discover the world of construction problems in much shorter time, thanks to the dynamical mathematical environment. And to find new solutions, to formulate new problems.

Since ancient times people have observed the lights in the night sky, investigated them and looked for patterns. They depicted the stars  by points and their movement and relationship - by lines.
