Instructions for Authors
Languages. Papers may be written in English, French or German.
Submission of manuscripts.
Preferably,
manuscripts should be sent (in triplicate) directly to a member
of the Editorial Board whose field of interest is judged to be
the closest to the paper's subject.
In case of hesitation the authors are encouraged to consult the
Editorial Office at the e-mail address given below.
Manuscripts may be also submitted to the Editorial Office.
Acceptance for publication will be based on a positive
recommendation by a member of the Editorial Board. Upon
acceptance papers prepared by TeX,
LaTeX, or another software could be sent on a disk
to the Editorial Office.
If TeX, or LaTeX, is used, the source file
can be sent by e-mail to:
serdica@math.bas.bg. In both cases,
the corresponding printout copy
must be sent as well.
Preparation of manuscripts.
Before having a paper
typed for submission, the author should pay attention to the following
important recommendations:
-
Manuscripts should be typewritten or printed on one side of the
paper,
double-spaced with wide margins on A4 paper format, using black tape.
-
An abstract, not exceeding 150 words, should be included at the beginning.
The author(s) should provide also 2000
Mathematics Subject Classification
and Key words clarifying the
subject of the manuscript.
-
Formulae should be typed whenever possible. Mathematical characters must be
written legibly and clearly. The exact position of sub- and superscripts
must be unambiguous. Authors should take care in
situations which could cause confusion such as to distinguish between O
(capital O) and 0 (zero), l (lower case l) and 1 (one),
italic a and Greek alpha, italic w
and Greek omega etc.
They should also be careful about the size of capital
and lower case letters. A List of Symbols should accompany those
manuscripts which are not prepared by using standard mathematical editors
like TeX, LaTeX or WORD.
The List of
Symbols
has to contain all the mathematical symbols used in the paper
identified typographically. Indicate also when a font different from Roman
(such as German, Greek, Script etc.) is used.
-
Figures and tables should be submitted on separate sheets and numbered
consecutively. The authors must indicate in the margin of the manuscript
where the figures or tables are to be inserted. Figures may be
sent also on a disk as files in PCX or PS graphic formats.
-
Footnotes should be numbered consecutively and placed at the foot of the page
where they have to appear. The footnotes related to the title and
author's names should not be numbered.
-
References should be given at the
end of the paper in alphabetical order in the following way: a) to books -
author, title,
location, year of publication; b) to articles in periodicals or collections -
author, title of the article, title of the periodical (collection), volume,
year, pagination. Abbreviations of titles of journals and periodicals should be
done according to
Mathematical Reviews or
Zentralblatt fuer
Mathematik (see e.g. most recent Mathematical Reviews
Annual Subject Index).
-
Manuscripts must be accompanied by the full address(es) of the author(s)
and e-mail, if available.
-
On a separate sheet the author(s) should give a short running title
(not exceeding 60 symbols) and in the case of multiple authors they should
specify an address for correspondence.
-
Author(s) should keep a copy of the original manuscript.
-
Manuscripts are not sent back.
Proofs. The galley proofs are sent to the specified address for
correspondence. For corrections (in the galley proofs) which exceed
more than 10% of the text, the authors will be charged.
Reprints. 50 reprints free of
charge will be provided for each article.
