Title: Preservation and Conservation Efforts for Arwi Manuscripts at the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka Library
Authors: SLM Sajeer, FMMT Marikar
Abstract: Arwi manuscripts, essential repositories of Sri Lanka's indigenous knowledge, have historically served as vital conduits for sharing information. Ancients freely recorded their wealth of local wisdom within these manuscripts. However, today, there's a looming threat of their extinction. To combat this, the Library of the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka initiated a comprehensive project focused on preserving and conserving Arwi manuscripts. This ambitious undertaking aims to safeguard indigenous knowledge for future generations. It commenced with the systematic collection and physical conservation of scattered Arwi manuscripts across Sri Lanka. Concurrently, a Preservation and Conservation unit was established within the library, not only for Arwi manuscripts but also for rare books. The project employed established conservation techniques tailored to the specific defects observed in the manuscripts. Subsequently, preservation methods suitable for local environmental conditions were implemented. As a final step, the entire collection of manuscripts was digitized, granting researchers access in accordance with established policies.

Title: The Miniatures in the Medieval Illustrated Psalters as Exegesis of the Text
Authors: Stefka Kancheva
Abstract: The Psalter is the Bible book most used in Orthodox worship. In the Middle Ages, illustrated psalters spread, and miniatures with New Testament subjects appeared on their pages. The paper shows the direct connection between the miniatures with a New Testament character and the worship of the Orthodox Church and confirms the perception of the Psalter in the Church as a book of prophecies.

With the advent of this technology, it becomes possible for artists to express themselves in a completely new way, without having to go through the familiar processes of creating a work. In the article, I examine whether AI has a future in the field of visual arts. I give examples of what this new tool is used for in the hands of different artists, and also what artists should be careful about so as not to lose their individuality and emotional depth in the creative act.

Title: Creating a Concept for a Typeface Calligraffiti. Design of a Font System
Authors: Simeon Zhivkov Zhelev
Abstract: The goals set in the creation of the Calligraffiti font are to go through all the stages in the work process: from research, preparatory sketches, synthesizing the shape of the letter, digitization, to a final version ready for use in graphics software and word processing programs. The starting points for the “Calligrafiti” font are to be different and dynamic, but at the same time to maintain its legibility. Therefore, the typeface has a constant slope to the left, written with a writing angle of about 30 degrees. The letters are written with a flat brush that leaves a characteristic texture, thus achieving a dynamic and expressive look. The construction of the letters follows the calligraphic tradition in Europe, and the connection with graffiti is the inverted slant of the inscriptions (tags) characteristic of the subculture.

Title: On the Topic of Aspect of Verbs in Bulgarian Language
Authors: Stefka Petrova
Abstract: The “The aspect of the Bulgarian verb” is a subject discussed by many Bulgarian experts and other linguists. There are nearly no linguists that haven’t expressed their opinions on varieties such as aspect; count of types in the Bulgarian language; types of pairs; meaning of different types; usage, etc. Here, I am going to review only forms such as “оценям“, as nowadays they are often used and they have caused some disagreements. There were suggested to be incorrect, and dialectal. The author believes they are the older form of the new version, for instance –“оценявам“, which holds the same meaning. The older forms are making a comeback in the Bulgarian language, due to the principle of shortening the speech and the words.
