State-Space Approach in Generalized Thermoelasticity for an Infinite Layer Materials with Variables Properties Hamdy M.Yosef and Hany H.Sherief Abstract The problem in generalized thermoelasticity of an infinite layer of finite thickness is due to Green and Lindsay. One of the surfaces of the layer is traction free and acts upon by a thermal shock. The other surface is laid on a rigid foundation and is thermally insulated. Here the thermal conductivity depends on the temperature. Laplace transform and state-space approach are used to obtain the solution. The inverse transform is obtained numerically. The temperature, displacement and stress distributations are represented graphically.
