Computer Simulation and Control of the Combustion Process in Industrial Boilers Peter Stankov Technical University - Sofia, Dept. of Hydroaerodynamics an Hydraulic Machines, "Kliment Ochridski" No 8, 1000 Sofia, BULGARIA ABSTRACT The paper presents an analysis of the possibility the computer modelling of combustion to be used as a tool for control of the combustion process in industrial boilers. The analysis is based on computer simulation of two types of industrial boilers under different operating conditions: PTVM 100 (Reconstructed) hot water boiler and PK 35 steam boilers. The specialized software developed is based on 3D transport equations, k-e turbulence model, eddy-dissipation combustion model and discrete ordinate method for the radiative heat transfer. The results obtained demonstrate the possibility of analyzing and controlling the combustion process through the computer simulation of the process under particular operating conditions. It is shown that computer simulation of the combustion process is the best, if not the only way to analyze and control the process in real time, independently of the operation of a boiler.
