If x is a countable ordinal and (fk) a sequence of
real-valued functions we define the repeated averages of order
x of (fk). By using a partition theorem of
Nash-Williams for families of finite subsets of positive integers it is proved that
if x is a countable ordinal then every sequence (fk)
of real-valued functions has a subsequence (f¢k)
such that either every sequence of repeated averages of order x
of (fk¢) converges uniformly to zero or no sequence
of repeated averages of order x of
(f¢k) converges uniformly to zero.
By the aid of this result we obtain some results stronger than Mazur's
theorem.

It is proved that there exists a bijection between the primitive ideals
of the algebra of regular functions on quantum m×n-matrices

Semilinear wave equation, Strichartz estimate.
We treat the oscillatory problem for semilinear wave equation.
The oscillatory initial data are of the type

h(x) +
es+
1 eil(x)/e b0
(e,x) |

By using suitable variants of Strichartz estimate we extend the results
from [6] on a priori estimates of the approximations
of geometric optics. The main improvement is the fact that we can
obtain a priori estimates for the case s = 1, while in
[6] we could treat only the case s >
n/2-1.

We study the asymptotic behaviour of numerical characteristics of
polynomial identities of Lie algebras over a field
of characteristic 0. In particular we investigate the
colength for the cocharacters of polynilpotent varieties
of Lie algebras. We prove that there exist
polynilpotent Lie varieties with exponential and overexponential
colength growth. We give the exact asymptotics for the colength
of a product of two nilpotent varieties.

Pólya's fundamental enumeration theorem and some results from
Williamson's generalized setup of it are proved in terms of
Schur-Macdonald's theory (S-MT) of ``invariant matrices''.
Given a permutation group W £ Sd
and a one-dimensional character c
of W, the polynomial functor Fc
corresponding via S-MT to the induced monomial representation
Uc =
indWSd(c)
of Sd, is studied.
It turns out that the characteristic ch(Fc)
is the weighted inventory of some set J(c) of W-orbits in
the integer-valued hypercube [0,¥)d. The
elements of J(c) can be distinguished among all
W-orbits by a maximum property. The identity
ch(Fc ) = ch(Uc)
of both characteristics is a consequence of S-MT, and is equivalent to a result of
Williamson. Pólya's theorem can be obtained from the above identity by the
specialization c = 1W, where 1W
is the unit character of W.

Let Uc be the variety of associative algebras generated
by the algebra of all upper triangular matrices, the field being arbitrary.
We prove that the upper exponent of any subvariety
V Ì Uc
coincides with the lower exponent and is an integer.
