Dear Sundialists, I want to share with you my current origami-like modification of a pyramidal SUNDIAL-COMPASS. The 3-sided original can be seen at https://www.dierck-e-liebscher.de/handouts/sonnenuhren.html It contains only equilateral triangles, and this has forced the author Liebsher to make an additional drawing intended for small latitudes by tilting the face to horizontal position. See some examples e.g. for Egypt or Cape Town: https://www.dierck-e-liebscher.de/dreispitz/index.html#Files I made a 4-sided pyramidal SUNDIAL-COMPASS. It is more natural, with faces showing E-S-W-N. Two Deltacad macro files are made for the two periods 21 DEC - 21 JUN and 21 JUN - 21 DEC. This avoids drawing analemmas for the whole year (as in the original) and also the time interval is made smaller for more precise and easy reading the time. A video shows the folding of the dial. Please, test the macros for very high or low latitudes. At the moment, my Deltacad macros DRAW ONLY THE MAIN PART without the tilting possibility of the original for small latitudes. Increasing the inclination allows direct FULL DRAWING for latitudes not so close to the equator (e.g. >30). For example, some possibilities for testing the 4-sided dials are the following: 1) Latitude 30 => Inclination 84 - very narrow! 2) Lat 45 => Incl 70 3) Lat 60 => Incl 57 4) Lat 62 => Incl 54.74 - equilateral triangles as Liebsher's variant! 5) Lat >= 77 Incl 43.4 - minimal inclination for the 4-sided pyramid, since 5 sectors with 72 degrees give 360 degrees. Let me remind you that the last discontinued Demo version of DeltaCad can be downloaded from Sabanski's page https://www.mysundial.ca/tsp/deltacad_sundial_macros.html I hope you will find time to check my macros! Your feedback will be appreciated! Best wishes! Valentin Hristov P.S. You can contact me privately at valhrist@gmail.com. If you give me your coordinates, I can send you two PDF files for your place for the two periods.
