Abstract: This article examines the strategies, policies, and institutional practices of the People’s Republic of China in the field of safeguarding intangible cultural heritage (ICH). It analyzes state policies, the national legislative framework, funding mechanisms, and institutional infrastructure, as well as the integration of culture and tourism as a tool for sustainable development. The study highlights best practices in the safeguarding and socialization of ICH, along with the contemporary use of traditional arts and crafts. Particular emphasis is placed on the interplay between tradition and modernity, as well as on the role of state authorities, museums, local communities, and international organizations in these processes.
