Authors: Lian, Mian, Liu, Min, Li, Liang Abstract: The subject of the present study is a significant work of Chinese painting on porcelain and ceramics from the mid-20th century, recently discovered in the collections of a foreign museum. The focus of the article is directed towards the relationship between the folk tale used as the main motif and the socio-historical context of the period. Emphasis is placed on the artist’s aesthetic choices, as well as on the cultural and educational exchange of exhibits from local traditional crafts and decorative-applied arts within the socialist countries of that time.
