Абстракт: This report examines the painting "The Wheel of Life" by Zachariy pop Hristov Radoykov in the church "St. John the Baptist " in the village of Karabunar, Pazardzhik region. The church was painted entirely by the Samokov icon painter in 1861, when he was only 18 years old. The main emphasis in the exhibition is placed on the individual elements and symbolism of the plot, a parallel is presented with other monuments of the era and specific icon painters. An example of a unique reading of the plot in the mural program of a Revival church by another famous master - a representative of the Second Great Samokov Icon Painter Family is also examined. In memory of my grandfather – priest Petar Georgiev Serev (24.12.1919 – 18.11.1989), Primate of the church "St. John the Baptist" in the village of Karabunar, Pazardzhik spiritual district, Plovdiv diocese, of the presbyter Penka Angelova Sereva (18.02.1928 – 22.06.2017), as well as of my father – staurophorian steward Yosif (Iskar) priest Petrov Serev (22.02.1953 – 10.09.2023), Bishop’s deputy of the Ihtiman spiritual district, Sofia diocese. May God forgive them! May their memory be eternal and blessed!
