Abstract

A methodology for assessment websites and digital documents accessibility for blind people is presented. It includes testing and reviewing by both automated software tools and more importantly – blind people for the most accurate user experience results. More than 100 sites and documents in Bulgaria have been tested for accessibility during the research.
A conceptual model for an accessible digital representation of information for people with disabilities is proposed. An example of implementation of the proposed model is presented in case of the Regional Ethnographic Museum, Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
