Abstact:
In the history of Czech, the glass material is centuries of uninterrupted traditions. In the second half of the twentieth century, today's Czech Republic undergoes thru many political, territorial and cultural reforms – the Second World War, the Communist takeover of Czechoslovakia in 1948, the Soviet invasion of Prague in 1968 and the Revolution of 1989.
Glass production in post-war decades undergoes both reconstruction and evolutionary processes. However, between 1950 and 1980, there are also positive emotions in the form of international participations and awards, imposing a new modern aesthetic and artistic identity of the glass material. The moments described in the report, in summary, speak of a period of artistic development under intense pressure and constraint. In spite of all political tensions, the glass art in Czechoslovakia moves in a positive direction and opens a new page in the world of art.
