How to Travel

• How to reach Sofia
  The capital Sofia is daily connected by flights with all European capitals and by all European national air companies (some of them with more than one flight per day). The organizers can cover round trip flights economy class for participants from abroad. Participants from nearby countries (Greece, FYR of Macedonia, Romania, Serbia and Montenegro) can use also train or bus to come to Sofia.

• How to travel inside Sofia:
  - by bus, trolley or tram - one either buys tickets in advance or inside from the driver. The costs is 0.70 Lv. (0.80 Lv. if bought from the driver). The ticket must be punched after getting in and is valid only for one travel.
  - by taxi: for those who arrive at the airport we strongly advise to arrange the taxi inside the arriving hall at the desk of the "OK Supertrans" taxi company, not outside. The cost per kilometer in Sofia is approximately 0.60 Lv.(Bulgarian Leva) during the day and approximately 0.70 Lv. during the night. Plus some initial costs.
  At the International Bus Station there is no office of the above taxi company but a representative is available outside at the taxi station. The Central Railway Station (which is just aside of the International Bus Station) does not dispose with representative of that company, so one should arrange a taxi by yourself. Another taxi company which is well-presented in Sofia is "Express". The cars of these two companies carry the corresponding names. There are also other taxi - all practically with the same prices - when you take a taxi make sure you see that prices posted on the windows of the cab.
• How to reach Velingrad
  We will organize a bus transport from Sofia to Velingrad on the 21-st of October, leaving at about 18:00, and back on 25-th of October, leaving at about 8:30 in the morning. The travel Sofia-Velingrad takes about 2 hours. The starting point in Sofia will be the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics.
  The Institute of Mathematics and Informatics is about 10-12 km both from the airport and the Central Railway and International Bus Station. It is on Acad. G. Bonchev Street, block 8, 1113 Sofia.
• To reach the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics:
  - from the airport: either take a taxi directly to the Institute; or take the bus No. 84 and get off the bus station before Hotel "Pliska" station (called "Studentski obstezhitia"). The Institute is on the side you get off about 10 minutes walk orthogonally to the direction of the bus (this is the region of the institutes of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences);
  - from the Central Railway Station, or International Bus Station: again either by taxi; or by bus No. 213, or 214, or 313 which you can take in front of the Railway Station and get off at Hotel "Pliska" bus station. The Institute is on the opposite side you get off about 15 minutes walk.
