Абстракт: The 1920s were a time of large-scale projects and transformative ideas for the urban redevelopment of Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas, Ruse, and Dobrich. Concepts for a national urban planning program were developed, emphasizing the architect's crucial role. Public buildings such as post offices, railway stations, banks, and educational institutions were constructed. At that time, the role of sculptors was minimal, limited to creating bas-reliefs for completed buildings, which constrained their initiative and forced them to adapt their work to the available architectural space. In 1929, Ukrainian sculptor Prof. Mykhailo Parashchuk was commissioned to design the architectural sculpture and decorative elements of the newly constructed Chamber of Commerce and Stock Exchange in Burgas. He executed the project brilliantly. A century later, the building remains a testament to the grandeur and originality of the design. To preserve its iconic appearance, restoration was recently undertaken using the latest technologies. The author of the article did not participate in the restoration process, as it was carried out before her research. She directly familiarized herself with the details and documents of the restoration with the assistance of the project contractor, Eng. Ivan Bahaturov from "Ecoart Engineering" Ltd.

Заглавие: Local Festivals as a Mechanism for the Preservation and Transmission of Intangible Cultural Heritage
Автори: Kamelia Petkova

Абстракт: This article presents an analysis of data from a nationally representative quantitative survey of 800 respondents, conducted within the project "Local Festivals: A Resource for Local Communities in Coping with Crises", funded by the National Science Fund of the Ministry of Education and Science of Bulgaria. The study explores local festivals as a key mechanism for the preservation and transmission of intangible cultural heritage. The findings reveal that such events serve not only as a means of safeguarding cultural identity and traditions, but also as essential drivers of social cohesion and economic vitality in local communities. Despite their cultural and social significance, local festivals face a variety of challenges, including financial constraints, declining youth participation, the effects of globalization, and limited digital outreach. The study highlights the importance of active community involvement, which emerges as a critical factor for the long-term sustainability of these festivals. Furthermore, digitalization and the adoption of modern communication strategies are seen as essential tools for increasing the visibility and intergenerational appeal of these events. The article calls for targeted policy measures, educational initiatives, and public–private partnerships aimed at supporting the sustainable development of local festivals as dynamic and evolving cultural practices.

Заглавие: The Lingua Franca of Hegemony: English, Globalization, and the Perpetuation of Civilizational Power
Автори: Hadjer Ben Salem

Абстракт: In the framework of present globalisation paradigm, this paper criticises the part English plays as a global hegemonic lingua franca. This paper argues that the global spread and veneration of English insidiously continue Western-centric civilisation power in departure from just neutral, functional tool explanations locating English. The study looks at how English hegemony affects world norms of communication, influences knowledge creation accessibility and quality, and shapes the appreciation and understanding of cultural capital in many different global settings. Through an examination of these processes, the article offers a sophisticated and critical perspective for grasping the socio-cultural effects of English as a global language and its role in preserving cultural and civilisational hierarchies in a more globalising society. The study acknowledges the need of acknowledging such power dynamics in order to promote cultural diversity, equitable knowledge sharing, and worldwide social equality.
