Abstract: The article examines approaches and methods for marking and protecting digital resources in the field of cultural and historical heritage. Artifacts from cultural institutions (libraries, museums, archives and galleries from North and Central Bulgaria) are documented, digitized, indexed and organized in digital repositories. Technologies have been researched to protect some types of digital resources, organized in archives and repositories. A methodology has been developed to protect different levels and for different types of media - photo, audio, video, text.
