Title: A Contribution to the Urban Planning of Tarnovo XII-XIV Century
Authors: Mirko Robov

Abstract: The examined sector is situated on three adjacent ledges, on the southernmost of which is discovered a large ensemble, encompassing an area of 900 m2. It was constructed during the first half of the 13th century and existed until the fall of Tarnovo at the end of the 14th century. Two wings are discovered. The west wing is a chain building. The inner walls are plastered and the floors are covered with a brick pavement. The north wing (a dining hall) is constructed in a similar manner. A large domestic furnace is uncovered, as well as an elliptical heating equipment. The newly discovered ensemble is a contribution to the understanding of the urban planning of the sector. Here no traces were found of residential buildings, production and trade structures, necropoles, etc. In this context here was formed an urban environment, only with large enclosed ensembles, bordering with one another and inhabited by representatives of the eminent metropolitan aristocracy.

Title: Sitan Kale Fortress - Bansko City
Authors: Dimitar Dobrevski, Rusana Goleva

Abstract: Located in the area Kalyata, only about 5 km. southwest of the resort town of Bansko, "Sitan Kale" (also known as "Kalyata", "Stana", "Satan Kale", "Sitan Kalesi") is a late ancient fortress, which is one of the largest fortresses discovered in this region. The fortress is late antique and according to experts it was built to guard the Razlog valley and more precisely the Roman road that passed through the valley of Mesta through Pirin and reached the valley of the river Struma. The first information about Sitan Calais came to us thanks to the Byzantine chronicler George Kedrin, who described it as a "remarkable city", which archaeologists say speaks of its great importance and the important role it played in protecting the "caravan route". The fortification is located in a strategic place, which allows for fast movement, wide surveillance and extremely good security. It is built on a hill surrounded by steep, inaccessible slopes and is in the shape of an irregular rectangle. The report analyzes the relationship between legends and folk songs with the latest archaeological discoveries and perspectives that are opening up for new research.

Title: "The Stamp of Discord" or More about Food as a Cultural and Ethnic Code
Authors: Diana Radoynova

Abstract: One of the most exotic and little-known ritual foods of the Greek community in Sozopol for the so-called damgi (the stamp) - a special kind of fried cakes, which until almost the end of the twentieth century were prepared only here, only by the Greek urban community and only for weddings. Over the years, however, the scope of their preparation and supply has expande. From ritual props, they become one of the culinary emblems of Sozopol and seduce tourists visiting the city during the active season. In order to preserve the unique recipe and local rituals related to the stamps, a special "Damga Festival" has been established in the Black Sea resort for several years, which aims to preserve and promote this part of the "delicious heritage" of Sozopol. But a well-conceived festival is at the center of old ethnic disputes.

Title: Plant Motifs and Sacred Rituals of the Thracians in Connection with the God Hypnos
Authors: Elitsa Dimova

Abstract: The idea of the plant world of the Thracians as part of the cult practice is relatively less studied. In fact, the whole philosophy of Orphism and Hermeticism is imbued with practical agriculture. Therefore, it should not be viewed in isolation from the sacred rituals dedicated to the gods. The cult of grapes and wine and their connection with the Dionysian holidays is well known. But the secrets of the Bacchic ceremonies lie in the composition of the so-called. "Soma", which is probably a type of hallucinogenic substance. An ecstatic elixir known in Vedic rituals was made from a plant with white aromatic flowers. Soma is the name of the liquid prepared, but also the name of a deity. The Aryans describe this ritual as related to agriculture. In this regard, we can find artifacts in Bulgaria from the Thracian culture, which were not illuminated due to the inability to connect with the cult of the minor deity Hypnos. During the Eleusinian Mysteries, where a ritual with wheat and barley was performed, a drink was used, which contained the so-called "honeydew" or an extract of an intoxicating plant agent. The purpose of Soma rituals was to achieve immortality. The vertical culture of the Thracians, which is dedicated to the connection with the gods and their perfect world, turns every agricultural activity into a special sacred space.

Title: The Energy of Local Festivals for the Preservation of Cultural and Historical Heritage: an Empirial View
Authors: Kamelia Petkova

Abstract: The report analyzes the results of in-depth interviews and focus group discussions held in the fall of 2021 in Sadovo, Elin Pelin, Gabrovo, Bolyartsi, Novi Han, Elin Pelin and Pozharevo within the project "Local Holidays: a resource for local communities to deal with crises", funded by the NSF of the Ministry of Education and Science (KP-06-H45 / 5 of 30.11.2020). The research focuses on local festivals and in particular the way in which their organizers view them as a mechanism for preserving the traditions of the local community. Particular attention is paid to the importance of these events for the presentation and preservation of cultural and historical heritage. The various points of view of representatives of local authorities, organizers of local holidays and representatives of the Roma ethnic community are presented without claiming to be exhaustive. Local holidays in the Bulgarian context, regardless of their thematic focus, have their own energy, which distinguishes them from other similar events and in this sense are the antithesis of fear and social isolation, especially in crises such as the Kovid pandemic 19. In most cases, these events can be seen as part of the process of building local identities, which draw their resources from what is imagined, reconstructed and argued as local heritage.

Title: Roman Fortress along the Danube Coast on Bulgarian Area
Authors: Ivan Popov

Abstract: The Roman Empire has left many traces in world history with various achievements. One of them is the fortresses. Roman fortresses were built in such a way that for many years afterwards their remains are still visible, without being erased by time, conquerors and atmospheric conditions. Even before the Roman conquest, the peoples along the Danube River understood that the place was suitable for living. The fortresses considered in the report are not only Roman, but everywhere the Romans repaired and fortified them. The Bulgarians used them, as the Danube River has been a natural border between the countries for a long time. The most important cities for the Roman Empire and beyond were: Bononia, Ulpia Escus, Nove, Sexaginda Prista, Transmariska and Durostorum. In the present days most of them are sites of national tourist importance.

Title: Cultural Approach to Teaching Communicative English as a Foreign Language in Secondary English Language School
Authors: Evgenia Nacheva

Abstract: The communicative approach requires teaching a foreign language through target, national and global culture. As English is the "lingua franca", modern students should use English for international communication, aiming at its relevant application for appropriate socialization and in future occupational/professional practice. The current paper explores a comparative, cross-cultural approach to EFLT in a Bulgarian English Language Secondary classroom. Fifty-two eighth-graders, aged 14 from "V. Karagiozov" English Language School, Yambol participated in the experiment. The study aimed to improve the quality of EFLT teaching and achieve better socialization of children from various ethnicities, thus educating them in respect, tolerance, non-aggressive behaviour, and ethics. Moreover, a way of representing Bulgarian cultural traditions was explored as a means of performance in English the patriotic defence of national dignity.

Title: The Concept of Interaction and Augmented Reality in Artworks
Authors: Atanas Markov

Abstract: This research explores the way in which artworks with augmented reality (AR) interact with the recipient. The expanded capabilities of new technologies allow the stimulation of the human senses at a higher level, which opens wider perspectives for visual artists for new creative pursuits. Such artists with their works try to include the observer in them, challenging his senses, both on a physical and psychological level. Thus, through the interaction work-observer is given a new role for the viewer as an active participant and this makes his emotional experience more complete. Historical connections between the concept of interactivity, augmented reality and the visual arts are also sought. Last but not least, personal experience is shared in the creative search in the field of interactive art, the realization of one with augmented reality and ultimately the feedback of the viewer-participant after immersion in this different from the conventional, extended experience.

Going back to 17th century Madonna Immaculate Conception is chosen to be patronal representation of Portugal and later on it is being widespread in Goa, political and cultural center of the metropolis in India. Western European iconography of the Madonna is transformed by indian craftsman in a intriguing way. Collection of National gallery possess several examples that I intend to illustrate this with. Hopefully contribution of my paper will be presenting the phenomenon of Indo-Portuguese style through the prism of one of the most honored figures in Christianity - The Madonna and also starting the investigation of an abundant and a problematic museum collection.

Title: Typography and Letter. Introduction and Essence
Authors: Radimira Yordanova

Abstract: We can consider typography as a method by which information reaches a group of recipients. Letters are inseparable of our everyday life. Historically, we all know the metamorphoses of written signs to look the way they do today. From naturalism to abstraction, from complex communication systems known to a handful of enlightened people, to increasingly logical systems of writing. Historically, we define typography as art and craft of designing letters. Letters that should be printed on physical media. Nowadays, the context in which typography is used is more complex. All arranged letters, regardless of medium (carrying a conventional meaning is not even mandatory), which reach the recipient has a typographic dimensio.

Abstract: The paper presents a major part of the research work of a team of scientists under project No. KP-06-Н42/4, funded by the National Institute for Scientific Research, concerning the analysis, evaluation, and improvement of digital accessibility for people with disabilities. The research aims to support accessibility for people with severe or total vision loss, as well as understanding the problems they face, and the ways to overcome them. This includes offering a methodology for assessment, analysis and evaluation of accessibility tested on more than 100 sites and documents. Software programmes were also reviewed for accessibility. The paper also includes examples offering more adequate digital presentations of information to people with disabilities. Examples include a site with accessibility and QR codes, a training site and a system with appropriate digital representation and encoding of information.
